The Regent Theatre, have announced that the region’s biggest talent search, STOKE’S TOP TALENT is back for 2010!
The theatre is looking for non professional singers, dancers, musicians, comedians, acrobats, groups or individuals of any age and any ability to take part in this year’s competition.
The competition is not just restricted to Stoke-on-Trent either and is open to anyone who lives within an hour drive time of the theatre.
Jonathan Wilkes will once again lead the talent search as the competition enters its third year. Jonny will compere the show and champion the contestants in front of a panel of judges which will include guest celebrities.
The overall winner will win a cash prize and a paid, professional contract with producers First Family Entertainment to appear in this year’s Regent Theatre pantomime, Robinson Crusoe.
Initial auditions take place at The Victoria Hall on 10 and 17 July. The competition’s Heats take place at The Regent Theatre and run from 31 August to 3 September with the Grand Final taking place on 4 September.
Daniel Hewitt stormed to success in the first Stoke’s Top Talent back in 2008 and bagged a role in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as well as performing on The Paul O’Grady Show. Last year’s winner Su Annagib beat more than 200 hopefuls to perform on The Regent stage in Dick Whittington and breakdancing group, Two Fresh Crew – cousins Aaron and Andrew Corden – won scholarships to a prestigious Cambridge dance school. They received the prize thanks to the generosity of competition judge and world darts champion, Phil “The Power” Taylor.
Chris McGuigan, Head of Marketing & Sales for Stoke-on-Trent Theatres Ltd, said: “After two fantastic years as an event at the heart of the community, we can’t wait to see what incredible talent will be discovered this year. As always, we really want to see a great variety of talent and reiterate that the show isn’t just for residents of Stoke-on-Trent, the net is cast far and wide, and we welcome anyone who lives within an hour drive time of the theatre.”
