Funeral For A Friend to headline Crewe 11

Welsh rock legends Funeral For A Friend will headline this year’s Crewe Live music festival.

The band will play on the Sunday night of the event, which takes place across the town over the Bank Holiday weekend May 27th to 30th.

Organisers, Volume, have also revealed that two of the UK’s hottest new bands – Kid British and Twisted Wheel – will headline the festival on the Friday and Saturday respectively.

The four-day event will be the town’s biggest ever music festival with more than a hundred bands and artists playing at more than ten venues.

Confirmed stages so far include Dantes, Square One, The Duke of Bridgewater, The Imp, The Waldron, Oddies, The Box and The Bank, with more to be added.

Funeral For A Friend come to Crewe as they release their highly acclaimed new album Welcome Home Armageddon!.
The band emerged a decade ago to steal the melodic hardcore crown, winning over hordes of fans and scoring chart successes in the process.
In the past ten years they have earned a bagful of awards, played sell-out tours, evolving to become a genuinely creative force on the British rock scene.

Volume spokesman Toby Robinson said: “We are especially proud of the headliners this year as we feel we have managed to push the festival up a level.

“Hopefully the three headliners cater for most tastes. Kid British are a real party band and will be ideal to kick things into life on the Friday, while Twisted Wheel, whose fans include the Gallagher brothers, are undoubtedly one of the best new indie bands in the UK today.

“But as proud as we are of the headliners, the festival is very much about up and coming local talent.

“We’ll be featuring the cream of the best original artists and bands from across the region and hopefully the event will provide a platform for them to reach new audiences.

“For some reason Crewe seems to have a real lack of events that bring the community together, while the likes of Nantwich and Chester stage a string of festivals and major events every year.

“Hopefully Crewe Live 11 will give the town someone to be positive about.

“This year’s festival will be a really high-profile event, pulling in hundreds of music fans over the weekend, something which can only be good for the town’s economy.”

The organisers are now busy working on the schedule for the four days and the new website www.crewelive.co.uk will be going live very soon.

Any other venues interested in taking part should email festival@volumepr.co.uk or call 01270 625384.

The organisers are also looking for support from local businesses and anyone interested in sponsoring the festival should email toby@volumepr.co.uk or call 01270 625384.
