Gig Guide Friday 10th – Friday 17th June


Friday 10th

Tonight local foursome, The Fortunas play The Full Moon in Newcastle. Other bands on the bill include the ever popular Jo-ee-T and an acoustic set from Faux Feet. Doors open at 8pm and tickets are £2.50 on the door. Following the gig DJ SweetJayne takes to the decks until 2:30am with the door charge being £2 after 11pm.

Crewe’s own urban act Profound Legacy return to headline The Box in Crewe from 8pm. Now a two-piece, Andy McMullin and Tommy Derricutt arrive fresh from providing a true highlight of Crewe Live 2011. Support comes from Wolfcatcher and new indie band Empty Pockets alongside youngsters Interception. Tickets are £5 and doors open at 8pm.

Elsewhere Soundhouse Productions present Sherry Counsellors, Bad Hair Days, The Escape and Sound Casino at The Fat Cat Café Bar in Hanley from 8pm. Entry is £4 on the door.

Saturday 11th

Fink Ployd are one of the leading tribute bands in the UK paying tribute as the name implies to Pink Floyd. The band based in the North West of England were formed in 2008, and rehearsed for just over a year before playing their first concert. Since that time the band have played more than twenty concerts to an ever growing fan base that has grown alongside the band and are know as Ploydians. Doors open at 8pm, and tickets are available from the venues website or from The Royal Hotel on 01270 257 398.

Stoke Youth In Concert play Longton Central Hall from 7:30pm. For tickets or further information please contact the venue directly on 01782 313427.

The Get Along’s headline The Underground in Hanley from 7pm. The band have recently been snapped up as part of Oatcake Day 2011 to support Underground Heroes at their gig later in the year. Support comes from Friday Street, Pretty Green Whites and Clockwork Owls. Tickets are £4.55 from Music Mania.

The Control return to The Sugarmill in Hanley on Saturday. Support comes from Stagecoach, Borders and The Mercy Beat. Tickets are £4.00 from the venue’s official website.

Elsewhere Stepping Lane play The Talbot in Stone, and are playing two 45 minute sets for free from 9:30pm.

Sunday 12th

On Sunday Paul Walker and Karen Pfeiffer play a free gig at David’s Brasserie from 7:30pm.

Elsewhere pop star, TV presenter, friend of Robbie Williams and star of several musicals, including The Rocky Horror Show and Grease, Jonathan Wilkes and The Wilkes Academy, play the Regent Theatre and Britannia Suite in Hanley from 5pm. Tickets are available from £17.50 from the Box Office on 0870 060 6649.

Monday 13th

Monday sees the grand finale of The Full Moons Shootout! original music competition. The weekly event has finally come to a head and the three confirmed finalists are The Escape, Oceans Between and Molly Leigh. The winning band will get a professional music performance video made by Emmy award winning local film company, Junction15. Doors open at 8pm and entry is just £2 on the door.

Friday 17th

On Friday 17th, Six Towns will be performing at The Full Moon in Newcastle. Support is yet to be confirmed, however tickets are available from the bands official Facebook for £2. Doors open at 8pm.

Breaking Satellites headline The Underground in Hanley from 7pm. Born in late 2010, the band have already taken the music scene by storm, supporting the likes of Attack! Attack! Paige, Straight Lines and more. Tickets are £4.55 and are available from Music Mania on 01782 206000.

Elsewhere Sea Based Turtles play their debut headline show at The Sugarmill alongside In The Cards, Belgrade and Staghouse from 7pm. Tickets are £4.55 from Music Mania.
