Above The Underground make their long awaited return to Crewe’s music scene with a headline slot at The Box this evening from 7:30pm. The band have defended pop punk alongside the likes of scene bigwigs, Set Your Goals, A Loss For Words and Elliot Minor. New Romantics also return in support with debuts for both White Eskimo and Aeris. Tickets are £5.

Propoganda comes to Stoke

Propaganda has long been hailed the UK’s biggest indie night, and has managed to attract an impressive 20,000 people a week to its 20 club nights across 4 countries. The brand have recently signed up several new clubs, and The Sugarmill, in Hanley, are one of it’s newest recruits.

Manchester based Skinless Finger make their long-awaited return to The Box in Crewe tonight. Ash Powell, Nick Rogers, Phill Smallwood and Gaz Evans have seized the headline slot to fill the sizable shoes of old friends Bleached Wail. Returning to their Cheshire roots, the four piece have been busy building up a solid reputation in Manchester. The Retrospective make their long awaited return along with Save The Mastersound and The Flares. Doors open at 8pm and entry is £5.00 on the door.

Gig Guide Friday 22nd – Friday 29th July

Stuck in a rut? Not sure what to do? Luckily here at Stoke Gigs, we’ve covered all bases and got this weeks entertainment all wrapped up for you…

This Saturday and Sunday the Stoke Punk and Ska Fest returns to The Green Star in Smallthorne. 25 bands will take to the stage in total over the two days including The Grit, One Way System, Rough Kutz and Roughneck Riot. A weekend pass for the event is £22, or day tickets are available, £15 Saturday and £11 Sunday admission. There is a large free car park, camping is available, along with food and trade stalls. Tickets are available from the venue and doors open at 12pm.

Tonight Troops of Mafeking return for their second gig at The Full Moon in Newcastle from 7:30pm. Support comes from Snake Eyes Jonnie, The Seers and Chester band Anais Labelle. DJ SweetJayne then takes to the decks until 2:15am. Entry is £3 on the door.

Gig Guide Friday 17th – 24th June


Tonight Six Towns perform at The Full Moon with support from Electric Shock Therapy. Following the gig DJ SweetJayne takes to the decks until 2am. Entry is £2 from 8pm.

Elsewhere acoustic artist Sheena Bratt headlines The Nag’s Head in Crewe from 9:30pm. Expect a mixture of original tunes and well loved covers, and entry is free.

The Sugarmill wins NME’s best small venue

The Sugarmill have recently topped a poll from leading music magazine the NME as best small music venue in the Midlands.

The Stoke-on-Trent venue beat a number of other clubs such as The Rescue Rooms in Nottingham and Custard Factory in Birmingham as part of a public vote which aims to highlight the UK’s best small venue.

Promoter Dan Nixon said “We are extremely proud to have topped the poll as the best small venue in the midlands. It is wonderful to be recognized by a respected music magazine such as the NME and the fact that it was the public who voted us into this position really means so much. To the people who voted: we salute you!”

Stoke Gigs 2011

Here at Stoke Gigs HQ – we hope you’ve enjoyed 2010 as much as we have. It’s been a busy year since our conception back in February and we’ve loads of highlights. From our clubnights to our competitions we’ve been incredibly lucky to have been able to share so much with you guys, so a massive thank you and our very best wishes for the New Year.
